Default What do I do to prove it?

I'm trying to release a rework of someone else's (no longer supported) addon, with clear attribution to the original author in the description. They rejected it, saying I need to get his permission.

Now he released it under a CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSE, which explicitly states that I am free to adapt the work, and redistribute it as long as I attribute the original work to him, but not in any way that suggests that they endorse me or my use of the work.
Let me make this very clear to you. I don't need his permission.
But I sent him a message anyway. Now a month later I get a reply from him, he says it's fine.

I resubmit saying I have his permission.
They reject.

I post a comment saying I have his written permission in my mailbox, but otherwise have no tangible proof to give to them.
They reject.

My question is: whose dog did I kill, and why are they so mad?

Runes of Magic -> GuildRoll2 is the addon.

Good luck getting a reply, CurseForge/Wowace are becoming a joke, I'd be lying if I said I have been thinking of taking my addons elsewhere such as WoWInterface.

Most of the "staff" here are full of themselves and don't act very professional.

Hi guys, I want to apologize for the delay in the responding. This was just brought to my attention this afternoon.

I've reviewed the case and we're getting the projects straightened out.

@Kholim, part of the reason why it was rejected was so that you could just take over the old project. Having a large body of duplicate projects doesn't help anyone.

As far as the needing permission, we intentionally take a more conservative stance to continuation projects than some would/do. We do this to attempt to benefit both the authors who may not be aware their work is being picked up, and also the end users who quickly become confused if there is a half dozen continuations of various mods.

@Xocide, if you ever have any issues with any of the moderators here please let me know in private.

What you NEED (bold, italic and underlined!) to do is follow the appropriate process.

This has been posted since the middle of September, you may have missed it. In your last submission I had linked the policy/process to you.

I'm sorry, come again? I have 52413 "activities" on CurseForge/WowAce since it began. There's a huge "report issues" section on the navigation bar which users submit tickets, and if it's actually related to something CurseForge/WowAce they get a response, or the issue gets fixed.
